Clean-up victory

SEVENTEEN MILE ROCKS (Nov 2009): Brisbane’s southwest residents have had a win in their fight to clean up
Jindalee Creek after a local industrial business put its hand up to help.

The Sinnamon Park Residents Progress Association and local bushcare groups had been pushing for
the removal of “gunk” forming in Jindalee Creek at Seventeen Mile Rocks’ Edenbrooke Park.

Association creek spokesman Henrik Maier said residents noticed last June islands of “gunk” forming
in the creek believed to be sediment run-off from nearby industry.

“It’s a precious creek with precious habitants such as native plants, turtles and ducks,” Mr Maier said.
